4-H'ers compete in achievement project

Cloverleaf 4-H'ers from across the county competed in the recent County Project Achievement event at Colt Academy in Danielsville. Forty-five fifth- and sixth-grade students presented demonstrations on researched topics or gave talent performances.

To participate in CPA, each student selected a 4-H project that interested him or her and prepared an illustrated talk, a performance or demonstration on it.

Noah Dobbs, a fifth-grade student at Colt Academy, performed the song "One More Chance," while sixth-grader Nicole Keyros presented a demonstration on diabetes. Keith Gantt, a fifth-grader from Comer, talked about basketball in the sports project.

"I think the CPA program was a good experience for the kids to build up their speaking ability and a way to meet other kids," said Angela Gantty, whose son Keith participated.

"When I came to CPA, I was very nervous," Keith Gantty said, "but once I got done, I felt relaxed because it was over. Then when I placed second, I felt great."

First-place CPA winners and their respective categories were Julia Chitwood in cat care; Chase Dudley in companion animals; Cydney Flanigan in computers; Andra Chandler in conservation and recycling; Breanna Tate and Taralee Runyan in dog care and training; Hannah Smith in entomology; Cristal Saigado in food fare; Aiden Edwards in crafts; Cameron Griffith in general recreation; Holly Glenn in general science; Rory Smith in geol
